Raised in the Midwest and introduced to painting and drawing at a young age by his talented mother, Ed developed a passion for the arts early on. Growing up in Akron, Ohio, he took classes at the Akron Art Institute as a child. He later attended Firestone High School before being accepted into Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 1977.
While raising a family, Ed worked in his family’s auto dealerships and eventually managed his own ad agency for twenty years, painting part-time. While living in Yardley, Pennsylvania, he was represented by the Golden Door Gallery in New Hope. Since 1996, he has lived in Marietta, Georgia.
In 2012, he began participating in plein air events in Georgia and across the Southeast, winning dozens of awards, including nine first-place finishes.
Ed now teaches oil painting and plein air at Kennesaw State University and Chastain Arts and gives workshops both locally and nationally.
“I’ve painted since childhood. After college, my interest has been in representational art—mostly landscape. In 2010, I took some classes that ignited a love for plein air, and that now dominates my work. For the last ten years, I’ve concentrated my efforts on views of the Chattahoochee River basin and Historic Roswell, along with participating in local and national plein air events.”
