BFA in Painting 1977
Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA
Ed was raised in the mid-west and introduced to painting and drawing at a young age. He lived in Akron, Ohio and took classes at the art institute as a child. He attended Firestone high school and was accepted to Carnegie-Mellon University graduating with a BFA in 1977. While raising a family Ed worked in his family’s auto dealership and eventually managed his own ad agency for twenty years, painting part time. While living in Yardley, Pennsylvania he was represented by the Golden Door Gallery in New Hope. Since 1996 he has lived in Marietta, Georgia and is now represented by the Frameworks Gallery in Marietta and Lake Burton Gallery in Calhoun. In 2012 he began to participate in plein air events in Georgia and across the Southeast, winning over a dozen awards including eight first place finishes. Ed now teaches oil painting and plein air at Kennesaw State University and gives workshops both locally and nationally.
"I’ve painted since childhood. After college my interest has been representational art—mostly landscape. In 2010 I took some classes that ignited a love for plein air and that dominates my work today. For several years I’ve concentrated my efforts on views of the Chattahoochee River basin, Historic Roswell and Mabry Farm, all close to my home in east Cobb County."
